About Dr. Guen

My life has been a journey of learning and teaching, in both Eastern and Western cultures.
People know me as a physician, a psychologist, a mentor, a mediator, a sage, a martial arts master. These roles may seem diverse to a casual observer, but they integrate naturally as a result of my life journey and training.
Growing up as a Chinese-American in the Boston area, I was drawn toward a holistic lifestyle through my study of Chinese Qi-energy cultivation as a teenager. I earned a masters degree and a doctorate degree in psychology from Boston University, and a masters degree in Chinese medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1991. I am a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, and a practitioner of corrective yoga, medical qi gong, nutritional biochemistry, and other natural therapies.
Since 1977, I have traveled extensively in Asia and studied under people of extraordinary spirit and wisdom. I am a 5th generation disciple of a famous Chinese life practice lineage and a master of internal martial arts. For the past 20 years I have been distilling the great traditions from east and west, making them available to a broad audience.

Much of this effort has involved compiling little known or forgotten pieces of traditional information and synthesizing it together with modern perspectives. I take great care in making sure that this modern/ancient wisdom is optimally brought out in terms of accuracy, usefulness and accessibility.
You may find it interesting that what most uniquely characterizes my work has its source in a project I began in 1989 involving the revival of a sacred women’s teaching from China. A byproduct of this research has been the formulation of a unique method of relationship analysis. This breakthrough system, what I’ve named the “GuenSystem Analysis”, is a human unified field theory based framework for a new branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine Psychology I founded and have introduced to China. In addition to its applications in psychology and medicine, HUF Analysis has proven to be like no other system in its ability to solve the world’s most serious problems. Regardless of the nature of the strife – be it personal, social or global – the unprecedented insights can enhance the integrity of relationships of whatever matter or question to which it is applied. The weekly public classes I teach out my center in Santa Rosa, California, all generate from this single unified system of inquiry. Equipped with this powerful analytical tool I look forward to facilitating medical and transformational breakthroughs in the people I work with daily.
